I never thought of using a golf training tool before today – not consciously anyway. I have however, used a golf tee to clean the dirt clods from my golf shoes. And I do at every opportunity use that fancy golf ball cleaner with the pump. In fact I regularly polish my golf balls with the handy towel that comes with the ball cleaning station.

This isn’t the kind of golf training tool that most adept golfers would think of. The point here is that most golfers start out as ‘hacks’; learning to play a quality golf short game comes only later when some urging force comes into play. The new golf swing might be a competitive nature, need for good exercise or a desire to gain mastery over something in life.

What Is A Golf Training Tool?

I suppose you might say a golf training tool is anything physical or mechanical that teaches or attempts to improve the golf game or golfing experience. That would then have to include my cell phone. I play golf on it while I wait for my wife at the market.

Video training tapes are great golf training tools, but still are no replacement for actual hands-on experience. Many golf training tools combine a club or monitor or glove with a training video and instruction manual. Make use of them as best you can.

Call The Pro

I am a strange amalgam of independent trailblazer and traditionalist. I highly recommend you go for it whenever the urge comes on. Do thirty-six holes in a day if you think you might survive it. Fly to New Zealand for a day of golf – go ahead! I’ll also tell you to take a guide, talk to the pro – get a guru! Do your research and find the best you can find.

The best golf training tool for better golf grip might also be a friendly teacher that will spend the necessary personal time with you to move you forward toward your personal goal in a timely manner. This first requires setting a practical goal. It will also probably require having patience and then the fitness word comes in to plays its part – some exercise is also required. Fitness will allow you to utilize the golf training tools in a more efficient manner. Determined effort needs momentum and that is built over time. Make a start and move forward slowly and steadily.

Here is an oldie but goodie drill for putting that is making a big comeback, thanks to a company called Momentus. They make many well-made teaching aids for golfers of all abilities and ages.

This one is called the gate drill. If you don’t want to pay the $50 fee for the device itself, you can make your own for with some supplies you most likely already have.

Pictured on the left is a simple practice putting station with two golf tees and a string representing your line to the hole. On the right is the Momentus teaching aid that does the same thing.

You’re playing with your regular foursome and hit a great iron shot up onto the green with your ball landing only two feet from the hole.

What do most weekend players do next? They walk up and knock the ball away, giving themselves the putt either before or after their partner said, “that’s good.”

Not only did you break a rule, but you’ll never know if you actually would have made the putt.

You’ll forever lose the satisfaction of making a real birdie since you didn’t actually putt the ball in the hole.

Golfers do this everywhere, on every course, and they’re breaking the rules every time they do it.

There is not much movement needed to make short putts, but we often leave the green with a sour taste because we miss one too many of them. The problem is we get so caught up in mechanics, that we forget how simple they really are.

The best way to start to make more short putts is to practice them and learn to free your mind. I’m going to give you a few drills and games that you can do to improve your putting.

* Place six tees surrounding the hole, about 2 feet from the hole. Play a putt from each spot until you can make them all in a row a couple of times. Then try to make them with your eyes closed. Listen, too. Hearing the ball going in the hole will help to build your confidence.

Golf tips: getting the kids started

It is definitely a great idea to get your kid or kids started out in this great game early and correctly.

It teaches them so many wonderful things like self control, honor, respect, teamwork, problem solving and the list goes on, and on.

Your child does not have to be the next great thing in the game, just get them started and just watch what happens.

You do not have to go to the golf course to work on this game with kids. Keep it fun, I would suggest getting them to enjoy putting first. Any decent simulated putting green will be fine.

Once they learn some basic rules and etiquette start taking them to your nearest driving range or par-three golf course to learn the full swing and how to play the game. If you are not sure of the basics yourself, get the “summary of the rules of golf” for juniors from the USGA or PGA. Your local pro can help you. Good luck and keep it simple.

Stanford Leads Lorena Ochoa Invitational

Angela Stanford shot a 6-under 66 on Friday in the second round of the Lorena Ochoa Invitational to take a two-stroke lead over LPGA Championship winner Yani Tseng.

Stanford had a 10-under 134 total on the Guadalajara Country Club course. Tseng, No. 2 in the world behind Ochoa, shot her second straight 68. Ochoa followed her opening 73 with a 71 on her home course, leaving her 10 strokes back.

Meena Lee (69) was 6 under, and Karen Stupples (71) was 5 under. Annika Sorenstam (72), leaving the tour at the end of the season, was 4 under in group that included Juli Inkster (69) and Seon Hwa Lee (72).

ELS EASES INTO LEAD

Ernie Els took over at the top of the leaderboard after finishing his first round at the Barclays Singapore Open this morning with two birdies in his final three holes.

The South African trailed clubhouse leader Lam Chih Bing of Singapore by one stroke with four holes to play when darkness ended play at Sentosa Golf Club yesterday evening with half of the field yet to complete their opening rounds.

The ‘Big Easy’ spurned an opportunity to draw level with Lam on four under when he missed a birdie putt on the 15th with his first stroke of the day.

But birdies at the 16th and 18th saw Els card a five-under-par 66 as he moved into first place in the US dollars 5million Asian Tour event.

“I’m pleased with that,” said Els. “I putted nicely and hit the ball okay.

“It’s not an easy course. If you miss shots, you’ll pay the price. I felt comfortable with the swing and I’m pretty pleased with the start.

All four rounds of the British Open will air live on ESPN starting in 2010.

ESPN and the tournament’s organizer, Royal & Ancient Golf, agreed to an eight-year contract, they announced Thursday. The deal also includes digital coverage and expanded rights for ESPN International.

Same-day highlights will air on ESPN’s broadcast partner, ABC, over the weekend. Through the 2009 event, British Open coverage is split between TNT and ABC.

“It is all important to The R&A that we preserve the traditions of The Open Championship while at the same time ensuring that golf fans are able to enjoy modern state-of-the-art coverage of the event,” chief executive Peter Dawson said.

Ochoa Shoots 73 In Hometown Tournament

Lorena Ochoa struggled Thursday in the first round in her own Lorena Ochoa Invitational, shooting a 1-over 73 on her home course to drop five strokes behind Annika Sorenstam and the other leaders.

“I can’t say I’m happy because I’m not, but I’m feel like I can get closer. I hope to do it tomorrow,” said Ochoa, who took up the game 21 years ago at Guadalajara Country Club. “It’s a good pressure to play here, to feel the good vibes, and the love of my fans. I feel motivated because I know that we have three more days to play.”

LPGA Championship winner Yani Tseng, No. 2 in the world behind Ochoa and ahead of Sorenstam, topped the leaderboard at 68 along with Sorenstam, Angela Stanford, Karen Stupples, Seon Hwa Lee, Nicole Castrale, Hee-Won Han and Brittany Lang.

No. 2 Garcia now aims at major win, Tiger

Sergio Garcia’s playoff victory over Oliver Wilson in the HSBC Champions gave the Spaniard a career-high No. 2 world ranking.

He also has some unfinished business after passing Phil Mickelson in the rankings – winning his first major and, even more difficult, challenging Tiger Woods for No. 1.

“I think my next goal is trying to win a major,” Garcia said Monday after making a 7-foot birdie on the second playoff hole – the par-5 18th – after Wilson missed a 10-footer. “Well, we’ve been trying for quite a while.

“Attacking No. 1 probably depends a little bit on how much he takes off and if I keep playing well,” Garcia added. “It’s possible, mainly because he’s been injured. … I’ve never been this close to No. 1, so it’s exciting to be there.”

One win puts Love at 20 and into Hall of Fame light

So much for that notion the Fall Series on the PGA Tour is meaningless.

On the surface, Davis Love III winning at Disney might have looked that way.

He scrambled for pars on the last two holes to hold off a rookie (Tommy Gainey) who was 228th on the money list, wears two gloves and looks like he’s trying to kill a snake every time he swings. When it was over, Love posed with a bronze trophy of Mickey Mouse playing golf (just think of the white elephant gift nobody will take off your hands).

But that one victory was enough to change the perception of Love.

Timing is everything.

He won the final event of a season in which Love struggled to return from a devastating ankle injury last October that kept him out of golf for four months, out of the Masters and off another Ryder Cup team. And his victory came one day before the induction ceremony for the World Golf Hall of Fame.

PGA chips in more cash

The PGA Tour released its schedule for the 2009 regular season yesterday, with 25 tournaments featuring purses of at least $6 million US and a newly configured “Texas swing” of three events in the spring.

Still to be determined are details on a revamped FedEx Cup, and whether to take a week off before the Tour Championship.

Once that it is decided, the Tour said it would release the rest of its Fall Series schedule.

By announcing the majority of the schedule, the Tour put to rest speculation that some tournaments might be in jeopardy because of the economy. The title sponsors are under contract at least through 2010, and most of them have slight increases in prize money built into their agreements.

Among those that kept prize money the same were the FBR Open and Travelers Championship, both at $6 million.

Garcia Wins The Vardon Trophy

With the PGA Tour season officially over, it’s now official: Sergio Garcia has won the Vardon Trophy, the first European-born winner since 1937 to have the lowest adjusted scoring average.

Garcia played 72 rounds with an adjusted average of 69.12, overtaking Phil Mickelson (69.17) at the Tour Championship. Anthony Kim finished third at 69.28.

The last European-born winner was Harry “Lighthorse” Cooper in 1937, the first year of the award when it was based on points. Tiger Woods was not eligible because it requires 60 rounds, and Woods only played 25 before he was injured.

Padraig Harrington wrapped up the points-based PGA player of the year award after winning the PGA Championship, which came with a 50-point bonus for winning two majors in one year. Harrington, who also won the British Open, finished with 116 points to finish ahead of Woods, who had 78 points in six events.

An architect among 6 inducted to golf Hall of Fame

Pete Dye, who designed more than 120 courses with risk-and-reward options that brought pleasure to some and frustration to most, was among six people inducted Monday night into the World Golf Hall of Fame.

The 2008 class featured an amateur, an architect and an author, along with three major champions.

Craig Wood was the only player elected through the PGA Tour ballot. Wood, the first player to win the Masters and U.S. Open in the same year and the first to lose all four majors in extra holes, received the minimum 65 percent of the vote.

Three-time major champion Denny Shute and Bob Charles, the first left-hander to win a major, got in through the Veteran’s category.

Practice and perseverance can help you attain anything you wish for in golf swing. This is even more important than talent, a fact that is amply exemplified by the familiar hare and tortoise fable. Only the one who works hard will get the laurels in the end. This stands true with golf as well. One who subscribes to a good golf training program, and keeps at it regularly, will definitely reach the ranks of pro sooner rather than later.

The Importance of Being Regular With The Prescribed Golf Training Program

Many beginner golf-enthusiasts sign into reputed golf training centers and, for about six months to one year, have their workout regularly and systematically. After about a year down the line, when they feel they have stabilized themselves somehow at the game, they start neglecting the golf training programs they were utilizing. The regularity and the zeal put in the workouts gradually cools off.

The point is that without constant and regular golf training program workouts, the body tends to regress. Very soon you will find that your body does not ‘listen’ to you anymore when you try to hit the golf ball a certain way. You will find that your swing does not flow as it should have been and your alignment simply goes off at the certain moments.

You will be surprised to learn that the best golf champions train constantly, on a daily basis. They do not let their bodies relax lest it will fail in coordinating the movements, the flow and flexibility that is required in the golf short game. Golf looks extremely easy and cool – but it is one of the most demanding games in terms of stamina, concentration and coordination of body movement and mind.

Any athlete will tell you that even one day less in working out can have major effects on your game. Hence, for a beginner, the golf training program workout should be of paramount importance. As you gain the expertise required to play better and better, you will realize yourself the importance of being regular and constant with the golf training program workouts that have been prescribed for you.

You will do good if from time to time you have your exercising style and methods evaluated by an expert who can see if you are missing out on any of the subtle points of body movement, posture or technique that are needed for a perfect game.

Ok, I’ve said it. If we think of golf as an expression of life – energy, focus, attention, fun, blah, blah, blah – then we can consider that everything we do is just like golf. That might be a lot of fun if you really stop to think about it! We would have to start considering the impact of all of life’s events, like whether the choices of a mid-morning road rage or the sleepy, unconscious drive to work are helping the golf short game.

I’m not proposing a serious golf training journal, but a few notes scribbled down after each stressful event in the course of a day. Giving the exercise a golf focus should bring out some interesting thoughts. Now, don’t you think a thought provoking golf training journal might be of significant use? Why do we go out to the golf course anyway? Like most people out there, I like to relax!

Paper Is Cheap

If we were to consider that changing one habit might improve our golf grip by ten strokes, I bet we’d at least do that much considering and maybe even give an improvement program a try.

Caution: If a brainstorm comes while driving, please pull over. It would be a shame to splatter that brilliant flash of consciousness all over the highway.

Once you’ve scribbled your first note to yourself, you might as well get a notepad. A golf training journal of only a week might reveal clues to personal struggles that are going on externally. A golf training journal kept over months will reveal those struggles that are recurrent and happening internally. It’s not always a pretty sight but one worth seeing … something about truth and freedom.

My dream golf training journal would have pictures of my favorite course, my devil hole, great scores, a full length story about when I tripped over my shoelaces in front of a hundred onlookers. Get the picture? Go ahead now – it’s your turn and your golf training journal!

Many golf players of all skill levels, from novice to pro, continuously seek to drop golf scores by one or two strokes. For most, it is a never ending commitment to practice, driving on the range, and practice sessions spent with a golf professional. For golf enthusiasts desperate to get better, there are several easy tips you can implement that can significantly improve your golf score.

The first place to start is with your swing. A a great tip is to try to develop a good sense of rhythm in accordance to your swing and golf game. There are plenty of golfers who get themselves into a poor rhythm simply because they rush themselves through their swing. Slow it down and you gain more control over the club face with determines the direction of the club and therefore where the clubs goes. The truth is by taking your time and developing a steady swing it can save you on those poorly hit shots, thus saving you several strokes.

Many golf rounds are ruined by a poor short game. The second piece of advice to shave some strokes off your golf game is to change your putter to one that is more suitable to your tempo and swing. Many times golfers tend to use a putter that is either too light or too heavy for them. This can lead to either over hitting or under hitting the golf clubs on the putting green, not to mention what it does to your line of the put. That is why many more golfers are now buying a belly putter, it’s a putter with an extended shaft that pokes the golfer’s belly, they’re able to regulate their putting stroke better since the weight distribution is so much better.

When playing golf, you should also use the right tees to enhance your performance. A lot of beginners achieve better results when they use a tee that positions the golf clubs higher from the ground. This can help the golf player who needs that extra height get off a clean drive without worrying about hitting the turf.

Prior to beginning a round of golf, make sure you are really ready for the game. Start with a good pair of golf shoes so your feet not only feel good but keep your feed dry from the early morning dew. After that, there are many little things that make the game experience better. When looking at golf products you have a sizable list of golf aids. golf towels are best made of absorbent cotton so it can absorb any sweat on your hands and clean your clubs. Other golf items include:

golf scope

statistics tracker

golf balls

A final tip to consider in reducing your score on the course is to lighten up your approach to the game and enjoy the course and the playing experience. Many golfers are too focused on winning the match and can play particularly poorly as a result of this hyper-competitive though process. Many golfers will tell you that positive thinking does more to help a golf game than many of the other tips one can take into account.

Also, don’t forget that the golf products you wish for also make presents for golfers for your friends. With the holiday season coming up, these gifts and accessories are something your golf buddies would really appreciate.

Callaway wins court order over golf ball patent

CARLSBAD, California: Callaway Golf said it has won a court order permanently halting sales of Acushnet Co.’s Titleist Pro V1 golf balls, which Callaway argued infringed on patents that it holds.

Acushnet said it will appeal the ruling, and has converted production of the golf balls so that they are outside the patents in question.

Callaway said late Monday that the U.S. District Court in Wilmington, Delaware, has granted the company’s request for a permanent injunction on sales of Acushnet’s current line of the Titleist Pro V1 balls, effective no later than Jan. 1. At Callaway’s request, professional golfers will be allowed to use the balls through the end of this year.

The court also rejected a request from Acushnet to overturn a jury’s December 2007 ruling in favor of Callaway in the patent dispute.

Celebrity Golfers play the green at Shell Landing

“The more putts you make the more fun you have,” joked Fred Hooter, a pro golfer from Louisiana.

His theory wouldn’t help anyone win an average round of golf, but today at Shell landing, the rules were different. The pros were taking advantage of a day where the competition was low, and the scores didn’t matter. It’s a drastic change from a regular tour, which ended Sunday.

“Today you get to have fun. When you’re playing for real it’s like your office. You don’t get to have any fun when you’re in your office and when your’e working,” said PGA pro golfer Woody Austin. “It’s very rare when you get to have fun when you’re working. But today its all about fun.”

The Yellowstone Club, an exclusive mountain retreat for the ultra-rich, said it filed for bankruptcy Monday after failing to secure new financing — underscoring that even the elite can’t escape the country’s current economic troubles.

Spokesman Bill Keegan said the club filed for Chapter 11 protection in federal bankruptcy court in Montana. The move came just two months after the club announced an ambitious expansion plan through a partnership with the Arizona-based Discovery Land Company.

The gated, millionaires-only club on 13,400 acres in Montana’s Gallatin Mountains boasts a private ski hill and golf course. Opened in 1999, it counts former Vice President Dan Quayle and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates among its 340 members.

In a statement to The Associated Press, the club said it had been unable to secure financing arrangements with its creditors and bondholders. It plans to reorganize its finances and emerge from bankruptcy “as soon as possible,” the statement said.

Garcia targets majors after Sheshan triumph

SPAIN’S Sergio Garcia won the US$5 million HSBC Champions in Shanghai yesterday to become world No. 2 and immediately targeted a victory at one of golf’s major tournaments next year.

Garcia beat Oliver Wilson with a birdie on the second hole of a playoff. The Spanish star made a 7-foot birdie putt on the par-5 18th ?? the only hole used for the playoff at Sheshan Golf Club ?? after the Englishman missed a 10-footer.

The 28-year-old Spaniard overhauled American Phil Mickelson to claim the title of the best active player in the world.

“It’s awesome, it’s great, it’s something extra for the year,” he said of claiming the second ranking behind the injured world No. 1 Tiger Woods.

“I think next goal is trying to win a major,” he added. “Well, been trying for quite a while, but winning a major would be the next goal.

Are you satisfied with your golf score? If you want to impress your golf buddies, but keep shooting the same score in the 100’s after months into the golf season, you have to make a change. How? Practice!

Let’s face it, the golf season in most areas of Canada and the U.S. runs from mid-April to late October. To make the best of the golf season, hone your game in your backyard by practicing with used golf balls. You can lower your golf score. If the golf season is seven months long, it can seem even longer when your scores don’t improve and when you don’t practice.

Who wants to trudge down the fairway feeling bad because hitting topped balls, shanks, or slices that only look good on watermelons? Isn’t it embarrassing to admit to friends and family that you had the same lousy round yesterday as you did three or four months ago. Guess what - you get better by practicing golf shots. And you don’ t have to spend tons of money by going to the golf driving range every day. You can set up your own mini golf range right in your own yard.

Here are tips to improve your golf score, impress your friends and smile when you look at the scorecard after your round of golf.

1.	Put an easy-to-use golf practice area in your backyard.
For less than $100, you can buy quality used golf balls, a golf practice mat, a golf practice net, or even a golf practice cage. Just set them up in your back yard. Then, practice your golf swing with every golf club you have, from a driver to a sand wedge. When you set up your own practice area, you don’t have to worry about waiting in long lines at the golf range; you can practice when you want.

2.	Target your short game with practice games.
Get a basket, used tire, or a hula hoop. Practice your chipping by hitting used golf balls into the chosen the target. You will develop a feel for how hard to hit a golf ball. When you improve your aim, you will improve your game.

3.	Practice often.
If you think you only need to take a couple of swings, hit ten golf balls and feel you are ready to take on Tiger Woods, think again. In fact, just what are you thinking? Golf pros hit hundreds of practice shots a day to hone their aim, distance and muscle memory. If you can’t commit to a two hour practice session, break it up. Hit used golf balls into a net for 30 minutes in the early morning, chip into a tire for 15 minutes at noon and hone your short game in the evening.

4.	Master one club at a time.
Do you want to shave off strokes quicker than a triple blade razor on a soft beard? Try this. Think about your last ten rounds of golf. What money shots did you miss that would have lowered your score? If you are like most golfers, you probably realize that you could have saved dozens of strokes from shots that were under 100 yards from the green. Here’s what to do. Tell yourself “I’m getting down in two” to get a can-do mindset. Practice those shots. Expect to hit good shots, take only two strokes to put your golf ball in the hole and guess what? That is exactly what you will do.

5.	Visualize your perfect golf shots.
Many golf pros have a “mental” coach, a sports psychologist, to visualize a positive outcome. Here is what to do. Invest 10 minutes a day in sitting in a comfortable chair, closing your eyes and watching a mental movie of yourself driving straight and long down the middle of the fairway, or hitting a nine iron within twelve inches of the cup. Imagine leaping into the air or making a “YES!!!” fist pump with a lot of emotion. You will amaze yourself at the results.

When you use quality used golf balls and practice these five tips, your golf score can only improve. All you need is reliable golf practice equipment to make your practice sessions effective.

The golf swing can seem complex and difficult to master. If you are learning the game for the first time then it is important to get started on the right foot otherwise you could spend a lot of time and money doing things that are just not effective and will not help you play better golf. Here are some simple golf swing tips that you can follow to help you on the road to shooting lower golf scores quickly.

Tip 1: Use the right grip

The grip is the first fundamental of golf swing mechanics you need to master. There are many types of grips you can use and the most popular one is the interlocking grip which works well for people with smaller hands. The other grip types include the ten finger grip and the baseball grip which is used by many beginner golfers.

Grip pressure is important and it is ideal to use a very light grip pressure in most situations unless you are in deep rough in which case you may need to use a slightly stronger grip. Gripping the golf club too tightly can result in a poor release which will send the ball off target in most target with a loss of distance as well. The interlocking grip is used by most good players and involves simply locking the small finger of the right hand with the index finger of the left hand and this applies to right handed players.

Tip 2: Setup the right way

The setup to the golf ball is important. A good setup will make it more likely that you will execute a good golf swing which will send the ball far and straight. Make sure your feet are aligned directly at the target so check for this by using a golf club on the ground that points to your target on the driving range or have a fellow golfer check your alignment for you.

Your stance should get wider with each club until roughly shoulder length for the driver. If you are really tall then your stance may exceed shoulder length slightly as you will need the wider stance for more stability. The ball position should start at the center of your stance with the wedge and gradually move up to line up with the right foot for the driver.

Video Golf Lessons

Tip 3: Use a proper backswing

Do not rush your backswing and at the same time do not go too slowly either. Move at a pace that fits your personality. If you are generally a fast talker and walker then you will probably have a backswing that is relatively quick. It is best to start the backswing in one piece and keep the left arm as straight as you can for the entire backswing. At the top of the swing you should feel some tension in your right hamstrings and keep both feet planted on the ground.

Tip 4: The right downswing and follow through

Start the downswing by pulling the club with your left hand and do not get your right hand involved too much otherwise you will end up casting the club and releasing it too early which will result in loss of power and accuracy. Keep your head down and let the momentum of a complete follow through bring your head up instead of trying to peek to see where the ball went. Try some of these golf swing tips to help you reduce your handicap and shoot lower scores.

If you are tired of shooting high golf scores and want a way to reduce your handicap fast then you need to try the “How To Break 80″ system to improve every area of your game so you can shoot low scores fast.

Heavy rain wiped out all play Friday at the HSBC Champions tournament, forcing organizers to find a way to squeeze in 54 holes over Saturday and Sunday to complete the event.

Henrik Stenson led the damp first round Thursday with a 7-under 65. Four well-known players were a stroke behind: Sergio Garcia, Adam Scott, Anthony Kim and Phil Mickelson.

Officials for the tournament, which includes 10 of the world’s top 20 players, said they hoped to complete 72 holes by Sunday, but some play may be required on Monday to finish the tournament. Playing only 54 holes is also possible in the $5 million event at the Sheshan Golf Club.

“If we have any further delays … there is a strong possibility that play in the fourth round may need to be completed on Monday morning, and this has been provisionally agreed with all parties within the tournament,” said David Probyn, European Tour tournament director.

PGA commits to tournament in New Orleans

The PGA Tour and Gov. Bobby Jindal on Wednesday announced that the Tour has committed to having a tournament presence in the New Orleans area through at least 2014.

That means the Fore!Kids Foundation, which last year celebrated the 50th anniversary of the organization’s founding, will produce the PGA Tour’s annual springtime stop for at least six more years at TPC Louisiana.

The Fore!Kids Foundation, along with title sponsor Zurich Financial Services, has hosted the Zurich Classic of New Orleans for the last four years.

The tournament, which had a $6.2 million purse last spring, annually turns over $1 million to children’s charities in south Louisiana and generates $25 million to $30 million a year for the New Orleans economy.

Curt Hocker - golfing beyond the odds

For all the golfers out there, how many of you ever hit a hole in one? I don’t know anyone that has, and I know maybe 100 golfers who have played they game for a combined total of 1,000 years. The closest I personally have ever gotten was 48” on a 125yd par-3. I won a prize in a tournament for it too. But the best part was that 9 golfers were around at the time to see it.

Now I mention that one moment of golf competency for a reason. The odds of getting a hole in one are variable depending on where you look. But going with Golf Digest the following seems accurate:

Beginner Golf Lessons

If you are a beginner golfer just starting out you will need some basic lessons. You will first need to find someone who can show you the basics, such as a golf instructor. A golf instructor will teach and help you to learn about the game of golf before you actually play a real game. Beginner golf lessons should teach you how to swing a golf club. Practicing golf swings can better prepare you for playing golf. Learning all the basics of golf will get you ready for the real thing. You can learn basics by watching golf on television and on videos. Putting is a good place for beginners to get started. It will give you the feel for your swing and for hitting the ball. You can practice your aiming skills when you are putting. After putting it may be easier for you to learn how to use your other clubs. You will learn your own style when putting.

When having beginner golf lessons you will need to learn about gripping your club. Your club should be comfortable for you to hold. This is the important no matter how you decide to grip the club. Every person will have their own way of doing this and they may have more than one grip that they use. Your stance is very important and will be different for everyone. You will have your own style and it should feel right to you. When you stroke the putter you should use your entire body including your hands, arms and shoulders to do this, moving all at once. Practicing putting can build your confidence to learn other Golf Balls techniques. Keep everything as simple as it can be in the beginning until you catch on better later.

Chipping will be a lot like putting. You will swing your entire body just like you do when you are putting. The difference is you will use a different club and the ball will be leaving the ground and going into the air. Practicing putting and chipping can help you to build a stronger foundation. When you go to try a full swing make sure that you align your golf club and your body up in the right position. Then this will allow your body to have a naturally flowing swing. Aligning your club up to your target properly will help you to get an easier more accurate swing. It is important to remember when chipping one of the most important parts of the swing is getting underneath the ball with just enough force to get it into the air. You do not want to use too much strength unless your ball is buried halfway into the sand.

There is really no right or wrong way to swing a golf club. Just so you are comfortable with the way that you do it. With everybody having a different body structure the way they play golf will be their own style and different from someone else’s. You can still learn the basics of playing and just play your own way. The main thing is to put the ball in the hole and however it works for you is the right way.

Shopping for men can be really frustrating and hard. No matter which male relative or friend you are shopping for, a golf gift basket is a great option. They can be custom made to fit any golf interest or need, and golf gift baskets are appropriate for any occasion.

When it is Christmas time a golf gift basket would be the appropriate gift. For example if you want to surprise your husband, but you don’t know what to get him for Christmas. Fix up a basket decorated just for him. You can buy items for playing golf such as new golf clubs, tee and balls with his name or initials on it. Also, you can buy him clothes to wear when he plays golf. You could even send him on a treasure hunt by leaving notes where he can find his gifts. There are numerous ways to surprise him.

If you think you cannot find a romantic gift for men, that couldn’t be farther from the truth. A gift basket with a golf theme is a great idea. You can find out what his favorite gold course is, schedule a Tee Time with accommodations at a relaxing resort and get him reservations at a nice restaurant. He will love the fact that you put time and thought into his gift.

Finding a get well gift for a man is no easy task because they don’t usually appreciate receiving flowers or balloons. A great alternative to the usual is to create a personalized golf gift basket instead. You could include a gift certificate to the local golf course and add in a new pair of gloves or golf club covers. Not only is the cost about the same as flowers but it gives that special man in your life something to look forward to when they feel 100% again.

Although a golf gift basket may seem like the ideal gift you may not have the time and energy necessary to put one together yourself. If this is the case then you can usually contact a local florist which will have ready made gift baskets to order. These baskets can often be delivered the same day they are ordered too. If a floral service doesn’t do the trick there are also gift basket services online that will help you create the perfect gift.

Regardless of your budget, it is possible to create a memorable and personalized gift for the special man in your life with golf gift baskets. Your gift will help you show your man that you know him and it will definitely be remembered for a long time.

All golf players no matter what thier skill level, beginner level to old hand, have the urge to improve their golf scores by a couple strokes. It is an endless cycle of time-consuming practice hours, driving on the range, and practice sessions spent perfecting the swing or practicing with a couple particular golf clubs. For golf fans seeking help, there are several considerationss[/spin] you can follow to improve your golf score. But before you even start make sure you have the best golf equipment to ensure you begin on the right track.

An important tip that can be given to any golfer is developing a good rhythm in terms of swinging and playing. Many golfers who get themselves into a bad swing or other bad habits on the course do so mainly because they are rushing themselves on the course. Taking your time and developing a good pace in swinging the club can reduce the number of slices and shanks off the tee.

Another recommendation is to change your putter for one that fits with your tempo. Golf players frequently select a putter that is either too heavy or not heavy enough for their putting stroke which can lead to hitting the ball too hard or too light. As a result, the putt may go offline or too short or long. Many golfers have discovered that using a belly putter, with a shaft that is long enough to jab the player in the stomach, is another technique for balancing the weight of the golf club and regulating the putting stroke more evenly.

The third suggestion you can use to shave those strokes off your game is to make sure and use the proper tees. A lot of novice players seem to get better results when they tee up the ball high, the added height helps them hit the ball cleanly, thus reducing them from scuffing the fairways.

The fourth suggestion that can be given to a golfer in search of shaving a stroke or two from their game is to scout the golf course before your golf game. Even if you just look at the golf course map, this way you can identify the hardest holes and try to come up with a strategy that can help you stay out of the hazard and in play, thus reducing your score.

A final tip to consider in reducing your score on the course is to lighten up your approach to the game and enjoy the course and the playing experience. Many golfers are too deep in the mindset of competition and can play particularly poorly as a result of this hyper-competitive though process. Many golfers will tell you that positive thinking does more to help a golf game than many of the other tips one can take into account.

If you have a golfer in your life that you need to shop for, consider getting them gifts and accessories for Christmas or Father’s Day. A golfer NEVER tires of getting new golf gear to help improve the game and increase their enjoyment. And these golf accessories do not have to break your budget - many are very reasonably priced.

Golfing for a beginner is an often written about topic, yet an area which is grossly overlooked is what kind of equipment should beginners start out with? Choosing your first set of clubs requires a degree of knowledge if you are to make the right choice.

Sadly, you won’t find too many books give a new golfer information and what kind of golf equipment is best for them. The golfer is left at the mercy of the golf pro-shop salesmen to help him, which can prove to be no help at all.

All of the big, brand name sports equipment manufacturers spend so much money advertising and hoping that customers will realize who has the best golf gear but as a new golfer how much do you need to spend?

They get your favorite sports stars to endorse their products making them look like an even more lucrative bargain. However, every one is not a Tiger Woods and will not require the kind of equipment he uses from day one of learning to golf.

If you are new to golfing, using a Tiger Woods golf club will only make it harder on you because it was made for a professional, not someone who is just learning and only needs basic golf equipment or golf balls for example.

The first thing on your shopping list will of course be a good set of golf clubs and a bag. The trick here is to understand that professionally endorsed products are not all the same and you need to find a set of clubs that feels good for you. It will probably take at least 6 months for you to find your style any way so save yourself some money here.

Steel shafted clubs are far more durable than either graphite or carbon fiber, and they are stronger too, but they are also heavier to use and carry around. They also have better accuracy and control as compared to graphite shafted clubs.

They produce far less twist, but don’t have the effective range that graphite shafted clubs do. You will have to use more power and a quicker swing to make the golf ball go the distance you need it to.

Graphite shafted clubs are far more expensive and they are not as durable or robust as steel shafted golf clubs. They also generate large power levels, and are therefore effective as driver clubs.

Picking the right shaft flex or level of stiffness for the club is also important to a beginner golfer. Professional golfers usually use a high level of stiffness so that high swing speeds can be generated. This means more power from a stiff flex.

Now that you are able to see beyond the advertising and endorsements and understand that it is about personal styles, you are in a far better position to make a sensible purchasing decision when you buy your next set of golf clubs or any other golf equipment for that matter.

Typically, golf vacations are for seasoned golfers who want to try their hand at new and challenging golf courses around the world. However, as the golf sector grows, the market is growing as well to include vacations geared toward golf training and family golf vacations.

To learn about fun ways to plan a great family golf vacation, keep reading.

1. Choose a golf resort that’s family friendly.

If you’re planning to bring your family along on your next golf vacation, choose a resort that seems family friendly. Look for alternate activities like tennis, swimming, spas and recreation areas so that family members who don’t feel like golfing have other optional activities to do while you’re all out on the green. Or for those who do enjoy the sport, you can look around to purchase appealing golf-related gifts.

2. Investigate training and school possibilities.

A lot of new golf resorts are starting to offer golf boot camps geared toward all levels and ages of players. If your little ones are just learning the sport or you’re trying to improve your skill, this can be a great option. Some resorts offer junior training camps and a separate course for the adults to enjoy while their kids are at golf school.

Another fun and cost-effective idea for families is to hire one professional instructor to work with the entire family over the course of a day or a week. Your instructor can evaluate your skill levels, work with you through a game, and you can spend your vacation learning the game together.

3. Try renting junior gear for the kids.

If your children are still growing, you might want to look into renting, borrowing, or buying used gear. Junior clubs come in a variety of sizes. Before you shell out the money for a brand new set that will be too small by next year, you may want to look into less expensive options.

4. Pack lots of sunscreen and water.

Kids are durable, but before you set off on a long day of walking the course with them, make sure you’ve packed lots of extra sunscreen, bottled water and a hat. Heat stroke and burns happen often on the golf course, so be prepared.

5. Leave early for your tee times.

Parents know that kids can take forever to get ready, so if you’re typically at the course 30 minutes ahead of your tee time, aim to be there an hour in advance if you’ve got the kids in tow.

6. Spread the wisdom.

Use this opportunity to impart on your children the importance of good golf etiquette and strong sportsmanship.

Why use golf training gloves? That’s a good question and I suppose it depends on a couple of factors. An old friend of mine is a golf pro in Hawaii and he has been touting golf training gloves since before they existed it seems.

Golf Objectives

If your main concern is to go out and get a little exercise on the golf course on a beautiful day by hitting the golf ball, then golf training gloves may not be necessary. However, if you are like the millions of golfers who would like to improve their game, the twenty to fifty dollars spent on golf training gloves is well spent.

Training

Golf is like other sports in that there is a social function and a sporting function both operating at the same time. People’s focus shifts from one to the other, rarely keeping a balance that produces a quality sporting performance. And it hardly matters if the social aspects produce the desired effect of fun, relaxation and a chance to get in the game.

Fitness and training are promoted over and over again. To be fit is to be strong enough to play the game, with breath sufficient to walk the distance and enough conscious will to make it through when the going gets a little rough. There‘s also a role that luck plays in the process. But even with luck it’s been said that it is 80% receptivity and fitness. I think the idea is that when you are fit, you can be ready to capitalize on good opportunities as they arise.

If performance training is in your frame of reference, then golf training gloves should be
considered along with all the other training aids on the market. Some have to do with a particular training philosophy while some others deal with specific new golf swing or stance elements; others are just a marketing ploy.

It’s In The Hands

If you look at golf from with a wide view, it is easily discerned that the hands, arms and shoulders play a big role. Golf training gloves deal with connective relationship between the hands and the wrists with the arms and shoulders. With most golf training gloves, you actually wear only one glove on the opposite hand (if you’re right handed, you use a left hand glove). Through varied design means, the glove directs the wrist action, helping it to conform properly. Golf training gloves promote an overall better golf backswing, more direction control and improved game.

The price for golf training gloves is initially steep, but when compared to shoes or clubs – the cost in minimal. Give it a try and swing away!

Having your own set of custom golf clubs is a dream every serious golfer has. You can purchase a very nice set of clubs from a pro shop or specialty store but even those will not necessarily fit your style of play perfectly. A custom set of clubs will be configured to match your skill, style and body type perfectly. Continually having to repair a set of golf clubs that do not match your playing style can get expensive and irritating. A custom set of clubs helps alleviate this expenditure and may end up paying for itself over time. To learn more visit golf consultancy

Custom golf clubs will not be cheap. Obviously having something specially made to your personal specifications will cost more in time and material than simply picking up a set from the pro shop. The process which custom golf clubs are made is simple. Measurements will have to be made of your height, your arm length and typical swing speed. These are the factors that go into making a set of custom Golf clubs.

Once the measurements are made then the building of your golf clubs can begin. It may cost you thousands of dollars depending on the materials used to make the clubs; however, the serious golfer will find that the expense was worth it. Having custom golf clubs made with the exact specifications of your personal measurements, height and swing will help solve problems that have occurred on the golf course. Imagine, you will no longer have to play with a club that just does not feel right. The golf club in your hand will be specifically tailored for your body and skill.

How can you determine if a custom set of golf clubs is right for you? Once you have reached a certain level of experience or skill, you will begin to feel like improvements could be made if only your equipment was just a little better. You can remember how you felt when you began wanting newer equipment as you progressed past beginner golf. You upgraded a driver here or a putter there. Upgrades are consistent until you decide your game is ready for a custom golf club set.

Custom Golf clubs are a huge investment, both financially and in your game. You will want to make sure the fitting is correct. You will want to make sure the fitting is done right. You should use someone you can trust when you are making this type of investment. You certainly do not want to waste money but you also want to get the custom golf clubs that best suit your current skill, potential ability and body type.

Golf is one of the most popular games in the world, and its popularity is still growing. As the demand grows, so are the training centers, websites, advice forums, blogs, etc; each one of them trying to add a little more value to the game of the golf enthusiast. There is a wealth of information out there, some exceptionally good, and some not so great, and some utterly useless. How will know what you can use, and what you should ignore?

Golf Training Fitness Program – The Basics

Every beginner starts somewhere; and when they start they have a teacher, a mentor, a guide. You should ensure that the person who is guiding you will be able to guide you as to where and how to get the best out of any golf training fitness program for better golf grip. Similarly, whatever you learn initially, should be checked out at length by your guide so he//she can tell you whether you are on the right path or not. Any tip that you find, from whatever source, should be checked out with you guide before implementation.

Do Your Research Well

Even before you start training for the golf short game, research well. Read extensively about the game, the rules, the tactics, the necessary golf training fitness program, the achievements of the best golf players in the world, and the pitfalls of the game. Be well informed. Information of the background of the game will stand you in good stead when you train for the game – as this would act as an extension to the theoretical knowledge you have acquired.

Some of the best tips that I have come across regarding golf training fitness program are actually more common sense than golf specific. Of course, there are many golf specific tips that are extremely useful, but without the following few ground-truths at the back of your mind, everything is actually a waste of time:

1. Regular fitness workout and golf-specific workouts are different. While the former concentrates on building muscles and general body stamina, the latter would concentrate on the golf-muscles and movement without which no golf game can ever improve.

2. Be regular with your workouts. Even if perform your golf training fitness program once a month, it is fine, as long as you exercise on the same day of every month. Ideally it should be every week – but you can work out a routine than can be maximized at the golf training centre, and minimized (but continued) in the office/ home as well.

3. Be steady in the workouts. Give your body time to warm up and increase the stamina gradually. Do not push yourself too abruptly for better golf swing, or you will harm more than help yourself (and the game).

Get The Best In Drivers And Footwear From These Famous Brands

There are a number of new offerings in golf training equipment for better golf swing and they include items from Cobra, Adams, Tour Edge and FootJoy. The first of the golf training equipments that one can consider is the new Baffler from Cobra. Baffler irons were first introduced in 1975 and were thought to be the first modern utility club. Since then, the lineup of hybrid Bafflers have continued to grow from strength to strength and the King Cobra Baffler DWS and the King Cobra Baffler Pro are the latest offering in golf training equipment from Cobra.

The Baffler Pro is designed for the more accomplished golfers who might want a non-offset design as well as greater workability and its longer hosel makes it possible to adjust the lie angle and in addition, an adjustable weight at the back of the club-head enables the golfer to fine tune the swing-weight. On the other hand, the Baffler DWS where DWS stands for dual weighting system allow the golfer to lower the center of gravity as well as increase the moment of inertia and is ideal for those who require distance forgiveness and versatility from different lies.

Another golf training equipment of note is the Adams Idea Pro Hybrid, which was developed with materials; weight and shaping that are more appealing to players of a higher standard. In the front of the sole, an adjustable weight port is positioned that may be used to lower the spin rate and also enables the golfer to allow for adjustments to the swing-weight. It retails for about $250.

Golf training equipment for better golf grip that is finding use is the Driver, Hybrid from Tour Edge which is ready with a new driver under its Exotic label as well as a new hybrid from the Tour Edge Bazooka line. The Exotic Tour Proto makes use of combo brazing which is a process for constructing that employs a chemical bond instead of welding which in turn, removes extra weight that can be better positioned instead, to locations that give the golfer more advantage. The Exotic Tour Proto golf training equipment is aimed at golfers with low handicaps as well as highly skilled golfers and features a weightier head as well as a face angle that is 2-degrees open. As a combination of greater bulge and roll, it enables the golfer to get better feel and more workability and retails for about a hundred dollars.

Final golf training equipment for better golf backswing that needs to be mentioned is the FootJoy Reelfit Shoes that are the latest offerings from FootJoy in the golf shoes market and they incorporate the Boa Lacing System and this is the same system used in much high performance footwear, including the latest ski boots and snowboard footwear.

Whenever one hears of exercise for new golf swing, a picture of sweat, pain and hard work is conjured in the mind’s eye. Maybe the picture will match the description and outcome of the regular body-building and muscle-building exercises. However, the same cannot be applied to the golf training exercise. This is because the golf training exercise concentrates only on certain muscles in the body – what is commonly called golf-muscles, and it is not so intensive.

Different Needs, Different Outcomes

There are a lot of differences between these two types of exercises, because the requirements are different. Hence, the outcomes are different too. When training for body building, the aim and outcome would be to enhance each and every muscle in the body. Hence, the exercises prescribed here will have to focus on building all the muscles in the body.

The golf training exercise outcome is different, because the need is different. A golfer would not need to be muscular to play golf well. He/she will need to have strong lower back muscles, flexibility for rotating his/her body in one flow while swinging the club to hit the golf ball, extreme stamina to walk kilometers without tiring and without allowing aches or spasms attack his/her legs and/or back muscles, and so on. Hence, the golf training exercise would focus in building the muscles in these areas.

The stamina and strength of the people who train as body-builders or weight-lifters, and those who train for golfers is also very different. In the former type, a massive spurt of energy and strength is required, while for golfers the stamina has to last over a long period of time maintaining the same level of energy and concentration from the start to the end of the golf short game. Hence, the golf training exercise needed for stamina would be different from that of the weight-lifter or body-builder.

The best difference, which will actually motivate many beginner golfers to be enthusiastic about their exercise, is that golf training exercise needs very little time comparing to the other regular types of exercising. You can do the golf exercises in your lunch break at office, or at home before retiring for bed, and so on.

There are many other things than distinguish one type of exercise from the other. However, there are similarities as well. Both types of exercises require total commitment and discipline. You will not get any positive results if your efforts are sporadic and noncommittal with either of the regimes.

Perfect The Swing And Hit Farther And More Accurately

A golf training club is a very important aid for the golfer with new golf swing who wishes to improve on his golf short game and to meet this goal he can choose from the many different types that are available on the market. The Dual Hinged Swing Trainer is the best hinged golf training club, which is designed to “break’ when the golfer has a flawed swing and this provides a means of giving the golfer constant feedback that can be used to improve the swing. The Dual Hinged Swing Trainer is for use by golfers of all levels of dexterity and it is the ideal teacher that can be universally used, since it responds to flawed swings, thus improving the tempo, timing and coordination and thereby helping the golfer to hit farther and straighter by developing the swing path and tempo that are ideal for all budding golfers.

The Heavy golf training club is suited for golfers of all abilities to strengthen their golf muscles as well as improve their technique and fundamentals. It weighs 3.5 pounds and this helps teach the golfer how best to release the hands in the swing and avoid coming out over the top. The increased weight helps the golfer to hit from the inside thereby promoting a draw instead of a fade and in addition, will help build the golf muscles to increase the driving distance, with all of their clubs. Also, the heavier weight acts positively to help maintain a steady tempo and keep better balance. The training grip on the Heavy Club helps keep the hands in perfect position as well as allows the golfer to make perfect swings repeatedly, and is mainly designed for hitting practice golf balls rather than hitting golf balls.

Another golf training club that may be mentioned is the Marcus Dual-Hinge Driver which is the no.1 choice of golf pros all across the world and is the best selling golf training club aid, ever. More than half a million amateur golfers use it, in addition to the thousands of professional golfers and once the golfer has learnt to swing with this driver, they will have mastered the art of not breaking as well as achieving better swing tempo and be on plane as well. There won’t be any more sliced drives and the distances too will have improved with shots going off straighter and so, help achieve lower golf scores. This driver has been endorsed by Davis Love III as well as Jack Lumpkin, who is one of the top 100 golf instructors. It can be used indoors as well as outdoors, at home, on the range or out on the golf course and it improves all aspects of the golfer’s swing all the way from the takeaway to the downswing to the follow through.

Did anyone ever say to you “Get a grip on your self?” And then there’s “He’s got a good grip on reality.” Welcome to the wonderful world of the golf training grip. It’s a quiet world, but its import to golfers screams “Pay attention to me!”

I never thought of the golf grip as such an important element of golf until I hurt my wrist doing some construction work a few years ago. In fact, I now believe that these painful experiences are often useful – not fun, but useful – useful in getting our attention. I’m talking about the conscious attention. It’s not just a good golf training grip that we’re discussing here; it’s the application of consciousness to a very fond endeavour – playing golf!

Just look at Tiger Woods. He brings focus and one pointed focus to his game of golf, and this includes his golf training grip for better golf swing.

Concentration

Concentration, according to Webster is the “direction of attention on a single object”. Of course, implied here is that you have the ability to concentrate and that you have done the prescribed work to accomplish concentration. Focus is the result of concentration. By the way, happiness is also one of the measured results of concentration. So, go ahead and concentrate on your golf training grip and just see what happens.

Application

Once the attention is gathered up from all the distractions of life and focus is gained, that’s when the application phase comes into play. This might explain all those so-so rounds of golf over the past twenty years – whoops! Concentrate, focus and then apply the energy.

Deciding what is worth applying that energy to is also a useful exercise. Why? Because we live in a stress filled world that pulls and tugs on us – that’s why. It’s not just your golf training grip that wants and needs attention. It is though, the point at which we’d like to put some attention when we are approaching the first tee next Saturday morning. Give it a try.

Results

If we are successful in our golf training grip experiment, the signs will show and our golf short game will improve. Once perfected, the attention can be directed as required to almost any activity. It’s not about multi-tasking though as everybody thinks; it’s about gaining mastery over the self and that’s a good thing, that’s a very good thing indeed.

You have just picked up a liking for golf and you obviously want to learn fast, and perform well with a new golf swing. What do you do? You seek out a good golf training center and enroll yourself for the prescribed workouts with the hope that your golf game will improve gradually.

What Should You Expect From A Golf Training Center?

A good golf training center will put you into a regime of golf fitness training. This is definitely not the same thing as the regular fitness training. There is a major difference between these two types of workouts and while the regular fitness training is great under any circumstance, it will never be particularly helpful in improving anybody’s golf game.

A golf training center should train you in golf-specific exercises/ workouts. These would include exercises with bands, hand-weights, weighted golf clubs, golf balls and so on which will focus on those body muscles that are needed during the game of golf. The golf training center will also teach you the importance of posture, grip and alignment as well as your balance, timing, sequence and so on.

The golf-specific fitness training will also improve the flexibility of those muscles that are in danger of injury – such as lower back muscles and the hamstrings. All these will be quite different from the regular fitness training. Hence, beware of the golf training center which is equipped like a gym. Though this will not harm you, this will not benefit your golf game the way you envisage.

There is another thing that is very important when you enroll in a reputed golf training center, and that is how regularly you exercise. If you go even once a month it will be okay. But ensure that you go regularly; the best would be at least twice a week. Do not be among those who become members only to be part of the conversation about training.

Remember, even pros need continuous workouts. Exercises not only help in building and maintaining the stamina and flexibility of the golf muscles that are of paramount importance for a good golf short game, it also helps in checking out where you lack and you need improvement. Without a continuous feedback and constant training, it will not be possible to progress with the game quality.

Regular golf-specific workouts will make it possible for you to improve your core stabilization, overall stamina, flexibility of the muscles (and hence prevent injury) and promote physical endurance. Everything is possible when you know how!

We Americans like our gadgets, systems and even sleep aid devices. Why then would golf training devices for golf swing be any different? Let’s take a look at the game and a few of the golf training devices that are available.

The Goal

‘What’s the goal?’ is a relevant question to ask your self, unless it’s just a one day outing to get some fresh air with friends. Even then, you may want to know what to expect when your partner pulls out the latest gadget. Actually, golf training devices are inherent in the game.

Casual golfers typically like to get to the course, move around a little, visit with friends and if the game goes well – so be it! The casual golfer still wants a good pair of shades, maybe a visor and clubs that will make it through nine to eighteen holes.

The avid golfer starts to pay more attention to form, technique and performance and here’s where the gadgets really start to come into play. Enter the golf training device.

What’s Out There?

Specialty clubs are designed to move the ball down the course, providing more control or distance. Drivers are particularly prone to redesign. It is probably a natural response to the millions of dollars spent on this game so popularized by movies, where golf and business become bed-fellows, spawning all the while those wild schemes of money-making and political import. Well, maybe that’s a little overdone; that’s Hollywood!

Meanwhile, out on the practice tee, there’s a driver that pivots to show you where and how your personal glitch is manifesting. Then there are putters – the ultimate golf training device for golf backswing. They are shaped peculiarly, weighted extensively and made of every known metal on the planet, just to help shave a stroke or two.

There are special shoes, gloves, belts, balls with a Nike? logo, drivers, putters and everything in between. Most have some merit but you have to do your research and find what works for you. If that’s not enough, you can video your swing and have it analyzed.

One At A Time

I suggest you first commit a few bucks and spend an hour with a golf profession for better golf grip. This can in a very short time point you in a couple directions that might yield great results. Target those areas one at a time – with or without golf training devices – and then give it a little time to sink in. Assimilating new information, systems and techniques deserves that much. Use your golf training devices wisely and improvement will show itself. Enjoy the show!

You have to be aware of some common mistakes that amateurs are prone to commit and a professional golf trainer can help you from committing those same mistakes.

Everything becomes easier with the help from a professional trainer.
This is one common mistake made by amateurs: beginners who are learning to golf usually lookup when striking.

This is a problem as it can cause in a stroke being counted even if you didn’t touch the ball. It is important to always look down before you have hit the ball. You can practice by keeping your hips rotated after the hit. Stretch your arms fully - this position really helps a beginner who is learning golf. Pace yourself by counting to up five after a hit to avoid looking up too quickly.

Another common problem for golf learners is that once on the green, too many putts are missed. You can prevent this by assuming a putting stance and looking at the top of the ball. This increases your chances of hitting the ball while steering it towards the direction you want it to go. The success you experience will steer you towards bigger accomplishments.
It is interesting to see the ball of amateur golf players, going to the sides instead of the middle of the green. Some patience will go a long way to remedy this situation.

Proper stance is needed to carry out the perfect stroke. You have to make sure that you are taking the time to meticulously evaluate your stance before each swing so you may have to back up a little to make sure that you are not hitting the ball from the side of the club. Hitting the ball from the side of the club will definitely send the ball to the side of the green. Ensuring a solid, square swing will help your ball to go to the desired location with continued practice.

Be mindful of hooking - they are very blatant flaws that are found in most beginners learning to play golf. Some have a problem with their stance which causes the ball to hook, while others are gripping the club too hard, making it to hit the ball inaccurately.
